The Bishop Family Community Empowerment Scholarship honors students actively engaged in their local communities through volunteering, employment, and other activities.
Emphasizing volunteer work with diverse communities that have influenced the student’s growth, the scholarship seeks to recognize individuals who dedicate their time and effort to creating meaningful, lasting change in their neighborhood, school, and town.
One award of $1,500
- Minimum GPA of 2.0
- Involvement in school-sponsored extracurricular activities or employment or a combination for all four years of high school
- 100 volunteer service hours during high school with a demonstration of hours served in a diverse or underrepresented community
- Please provide supporting documentation of your community service in a diverse or underrepresented community mentioned in your essay (e.g. documented hours with supervisor signature, letter of recommendation from director of organization).
- Attending Arizona State University, University of Arizona, or Northern Arizona University
- 300+ word essay answering the prompt: Discuss a time when you have volunteered with a group of people significantly differently from yourself and describe how this experience impacted you and your perspective.
